I Have created this memorial site in loving memory of a great bloke, a very close friend to my families and a much loved person to many people,
Alan Leyland.
Alan sadly passed away to soon, on the 25th August 2008.
Alan was a fantasic character who will be remembered for having such a good personality, a kind heart, a friend of many, he was a man who worshiped his family, he would help anyone and everyone.
In our home town Alan was well known as BIG AL, he was very popular due to his hobbie and his job as a kareoke man, he was very entertaining to his crowds. He was also my dads dear friend they have known each other for many, many years.
My dad will miss his loads.
Alan has a very good family who are hurting deeply, so i thought i would create this site for a man who was and will always be SOUND AS A POUND and will never be forgotten.
I am sending love to all to his family and friends and anyone who had the privilege of knowing Alan as his was a great man, it was an honour knowing you Alan.

I have only recently been told of this tragic event by my mother who has been housebound for the last 2 years and is now out and about and meeting people again.
My father Joe Mangnall worked with Ted Leyland. 'The Mangnall's' used to visit 'The Leylands' in the 1960's (maybe 1966) when they lived in Atherton, I would have been 8 years old at the time. I remember Alan being really kind and gentle. His mother Eunice and their other 2 children Tommy and Irene. It would be lovely for anyone to get in touch who knows their contact details or just to bring me up to date. My email nigelpetersuk@yahoo.co.uk or 07930 345473. I believe since that Eunice has now passed away. My thoughts are with their family and friends.

please do you know the number for heaven up above i want to make a call to someone that i love,telephone directories enquiries,oh yes i have tried them all,i even asked the local priest because he talks to god you see i thought he,d have a direct line but he was no help to me,i tried the yellow pages but nothing seem to fit i just want to talk to you for just a little bit, love theresa xxx
Since the very day i met alan , i came to know how kind he was.....indeed the greatest person i have ever met...
he helped me make good decisions even at the darkest hours......his passion for his family and friends was so deep that we soon came to be like brothers.....and thats why i will miss alan forever....but he still lives in my heart.....as he does in everyone who knew him.....
